The main thoughts about the project
"Twelve paintings and thousand thoughts", are to inspire
teachers and others working with students and children, to arrange
interesting meetings with contemporary art. The concept consists
of twelve paintings, each followed by suggestions
to tasks and activities. Each painting has its own story written
by the artist. It describes how childhood - facinations has led
to adult interest for art and further developed into this particular
work of art. The thousand thoughts are to be collected from the
young audience. Free associations and use of the immagination will
help the onlookers to experience contemporary art on a personal,
and emotional level.
To make classroom work become a possible continuation of the exhibition,
there is a set of overhead transparancies available, and a leaflet
with the task suggestions and text. There is also a CDROM containing
the twelve images in both JPEG
and TIFF format available, enabling PC manipulation.
The project has successfully been used by teachers and students
in several regions in Norway.
